Instructions for Using the Fit Decision Tool
1Macros must be enabled in order for the tool to run.
2Complete the Virtualization Fit Questionnaire by answering all of the questions in the Model Inputs tab, choosing the appropriate response from the drop-down options, or providing an exact number where required. All input boxes (marked in white) are required.
3Indicate which applications are in your server environment today, and determine the level of criticality and complexity for applications that exist.
4Press the Run Virtualization Fit Analysis button
5The Model Outputs tab will display your results, complete with commentary for each section:
wYour results are summarized at the top, with key recommendations on the left and your three scores illustrated in a graph on the right.
wYour fit score, on a scale of 0 to 100, indicates your organization's fit with virtualization. The higher your score, the better your fit with virtualization.
wYour success score, on a scale of 0 to 100, benchmarks risks against success factors. The higher your score, the greater likelihood that you will achieve the related benefits of virtualization.
wYour IT project score, on a scale of 0 to 100, indicates whether you should proceed as an IT-only project or an organization-wide initiative. A high score means you should proceed as an IT-only project.
wThe number of staff required is based on number of servers being migrated and project time.
wThe last section indicates the order in which you should deploy your applications based on the characteristics of your company.
